Amazon South Africa officially opened its Early Black Friday Sale on 21 October 2026. The campaign brings discounts of up to 50% off across a wide range of product categories on Amazon.co.za.
Prime members received a 24-hour head start on the deals. Shoppers without a Prime subscription can sign up for a 30-day free trial, which normally costs R59 per month or R399 per year, giving them early access at no immediate cost.
What's on sale and at what discount
According to reports, the deepest cuts fall on electronics, headphones and earbuds, where shoppers can expect up to 50% off. DIY, tools, beauty and baby care follow at 45% off, while gaming and home products carry discounts of up to 40%.
Brands featured in the promotion include Asus, Dell, Garmin, Huawei, LG, Philips, Samsung, Sennheiser, Sony and TP-Link. Among the highlighted items are the Asus Vivobook S14 laptop, normally priced at R23,913, and the Garmin Epix Pro Smartwatch at R17,418. More affordable picks include the Skullcandy Sesh ANC Wireless Earbuds at R1,990 and the Snug 18W Mini DC UPS loadshedding backup unit at R694. Apple iPads, JBL headphones, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Russell Hobbs dual air fryers and Pampers diapers are also confirmed as part of the sale.
Rivals join the Black Friday race
Amazon is not alone in the push for South African shoppers. Takealot's Blue Dot Sale runs from early November through early December, with TakealotMORE subscribers, who pay from R39 per month, receiving additional exclusive discounts. Expert Stores says it is prioritising deeper cuts on newer technology, including Mini LED TVs from Defy, Philips and Samsung, rather than clearing old stock.
Vodacom, MTN and Cell C have also confirmed their own Black Friday campaigns running through November.
Capitec issues scam warning
With billions of rands expected to change hands online over the coming weeks, Capitec's financial crime department has urged consumers to stay alert. Fraudsters are reportedly setting up fake websites designed to look like Takealot, Game and Incredible Connection in order to harvest banking details and personal information. Shoppers are advised to verify website URLs carefully before entering any payment information.
