Korea Airports Corp. discussed plans to set up a dedicated unit to manage potential hazards at its worksites. The state-run operator said it made the announcement at a safety management resolution meeting held on the 16th at its headquarters in Seoul's Gangseo District, attended by top executives and heads of affiliated organizations.
The meeting reviewed plans for forming and operating a task force to identify potential hazards, which the corporation said is intended to make on-site safety management more effective.
The company also reviewed safety management conditions at airports nationwide. Items on the agenda included progress on comprehensive airport safety measures, the status of efforts to identify potential hazards across all worksites, spending of the safety budget, serious injury accident rates, and the status of 2026 safety management tasks divided by category covering workplaces, facilities, construction and operations.
At the meeting, Won Bang-hee, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, delivered a special safety training session for the corporation's executives on building a safety and health management system.
"Safety is the top priority in airport operations, so we will establish a safety culture in which management leads by example," said Kim Won-jun, president of Korea Airports Corp. "Through preemptive, field-centered safety management, we will build airports that the public can use with confidence."
