Filecoin smart contracts can now see FIL’s dollar price without leaving the chain. RedStone, the modular oracle and data infrastructure provider, has launched an onchain FIL/USD price feed on Filecoin mainnet.
The deployment went live on October 22, 2026. It targets the Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM), the layer that lets developers run programmable applications on a network best known for storing files.
How the feed works
Oracles fetch real-world data, such as asset prices, and deliver it onchain where contracts can use it.
RedStone’s new offering is a push feed. Rather than waiting for an application to ask, it writes fresh prices to the chain whenever certain conditions are met.
Those conditions are specific. The feed updates every time FIL’s price moves by 0.5%, and at a minimum every four hours even if the market stays quiet.
RedStone runs its modular oracle stack across over 110 chains. Reported figures for 2026 put the total value it secures between approximately $4 billion and $9 billion.
A crowded oracle shelf, and a fresh upgrade
RedStone is not the first oracle to set up shop on Filecoin. The FVM already supports services from Pyth and Tellor.
What RedStone adds is a dedicated FIL/USD feed option. Developers now have another supplier to choose from, which matters in a part of crypto where depending on a single data source can be a liability.
The arrival fits a broader push by Filecoin to become more than a storage marketplace. The network has been expanding its programmable features through the FVM, with initiatives such as Filecoin Onchain Cloud.
The timing is also notable. RedStone’s launch came just three days after the Solstice upgrade on October 19, 2026.
Solstice reworked how Filecoin distributes block rewards. It ended Fil+ DataCap subsidies and redirected incentives toward paid storage usage.
What this means for Filecoin builders and FIL holders
For developers, the immediate effect is practical. Anyone building a lending protocol or derivatives product on the FVM now has an additional source for FIL’s dollar price that updates on known, published triggers.
Having several oracle providers on the same network gives builders options. They can pick the feed design that suits their application, or combine sources to reduce the risk of any one feed failing or being manipulated.
No additional partnerships or user metrics related to the RedStone and Filecoin integration have been disclosed as of the announcement.
The key metrics to watch are adoption-driven. Look for which FVM protocols integrate the RedStone feed, how much value ends up depending on it, and whether new lending or derivatives markets for FIL emerge as a result.
