TAIPEI: Taiwanese YouTuber Baichi Princess, whose real name is Dai Ping Ya, recently experienced every chou chou (comfort pillow) owner's worst nightmare.
While holidaying in Athens, her beloved pillow, A-Tien, went missing from her hotel room.
According 8Days, A-Tien has been with her for 38 years and even boasts her own Instagram account, @atienpillow87.
In an Instagram video, Baichi Princess shared that A-Tien was lying safely on the bed when she left her room that day.
But when she returned after housekeeping had cleaned, the pillow was nowhere to be found.
After turning the room upside down, she immediately contacted the front desk to ask for help.
"It's a 38-year-old pillow and I have an Instagram account," she told the staff.
The hotel team insisted that housekeeping had not seen the pillow, stressing that they would never steal a guest's belongings.
Baichi Princess suspected that A-Tien had accidentally been bundled up with the bedsheets and sent off to an external laundry facility.
Since it was already late at night, she had no choice but to wait until the next morning for news.
When morning came, the hotel manager told her the laundry company had not found A-Tien, adding: "A pillow is so obvious. It should fall out when you shake the bedsheets!"
"I was completely devastated after hearing that and quietly shed tears," recalled Baichi Princess.
Desperate to get her pillow back, she considered heading down to the laundry facility to search for A-Tien herself.
Finally, after six hours of back-and-forth, there was good news: A-Tien had been found inside a bag of bedsheets sent over by the hotel.
But a new problem arose. Baichi Princess had an early flight the next morning, and the hotel did not offer a courier service.
She was told A-Tien would only be delivered around midnight with the next batch of laundry.
Having only just found her precious pillow, she was not about to risk losing it again.
She jumped into a taxi for a two-hour round trip to the laundry facility to collect A-Tien in person. The ride cost her €61 (about RM281), but to her, it was money well spent.
To top it all off, A-Tien even gained a new follower from the entire ordeal — the boss of the laundry facility himself!
