Barcelona could bring back one of their most popular modern kit combinations for the 2027-28 season.
Early leaks suggest that the club’s third shirt will feature a striking black and gold design, a well-loved colour combination among the fanbase.
According to Footy Headlines, Nike is planning a predominantly black jersey with golden-yellow branding, drawing inspiration from Barcelona’s memorable 2020-21 away kit.
However, the final design has not yet been confirmed. There is also said to be a LA Lakers-style jersey in the works.
Barcelona set for a black and gold revival
The proposed third kit is expected to feature a black base complemented by golden-yellow logos, creating a clean contrast without relying on elaborate patterns.
The gold detailing is set to be more understated than on the 2020-21 away shirt, giving the new design a slightly different appearance.
Nike’s new 2027 template is said to place emphasis on a simple, modern look and could form the foundation for the jersey.
The shirt is provisionally scheduled for release in August 2027, although the exact launch date remains unknown.
Importantly, the available information concerns the expected colours and general design direction, but neither has been confirmed.
Why the colour combination appeals to Barcelona fans
Barcelona’s 2020-21 black and gold away kit remains a memorable design, largely because it offered a distinctive alternative to the club’s traditional Blaugrana colours.

The combination worked particularly well because of its simplicity. The dark background allowed the gold detailing to stand out while maintaining an elegant appearance.
Reviving that concept for a third kit makes sense, especially if Nike can give it a fresh identity rather than simply reproducing the earlier shirt.
Barça did not have the greatest memories of the 2020-21 season, a time when their performances on the pitch left a lot to be desired.
Bringing it back in the 2027-28 season and associating it with statement performances on the pitch would feel really good.
If the expected design direction is maintained, Barcelona supporters could have another particularly attractive black and gold shirt in their hands.
