Kia (000270.KS) said on the 22nd that its high-output EV6 GT took first place overall in a comparison test of high-performance electric vehicles by the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport, beating rivals from Tesla and BYD.
The test covered five high-output electric vehicles: the Kia EV6 GT, the Tesla Model Y Performance, the Zeekr 7GT Privilege AWD, the Polestar 4 Coupe Dual Motor and the BYD Sealion 7 AWD Excellence. Cars were scored in seven categories: body, safety, comfort, powertrain, driving dynamics, environmental performance and running costs.
The EV6 GT finished first with 585 points, nine points ahead of the Tesla Model Y Performance at 576. It posted the highest scores in the field in three categories — safety with 89 points, powertrain with 105 points and driving dynamics with 96 points.
In the safety category, the car drew high marks for braking performance and driving stability, while in the powertrain category its maximum output of 650 horsepower was highly rated. In driving dynamics, it held a commanding lead, finishing 20 points ahead of the runner-up Tesla Model Y Performance, which scored 76 points.
Auto Motor und Sport said the EV6 GT won the comparison test on the strength of its driving performance, calling it the only car in the group to show distinctly sporty handling and citing its simulated gear-shift function and drift mode as further points of difference.
A Kia official said the company would continue working to offer customers a distinctive electrified driving experience and reliable product quality.
