Police have arrested and referred to prosecutors a person who repeatedly posted malicious messages and comments targeting League of Legends pro gamer Moon Hyeon-jun, known as "Oner," of T1.
Key Player Agency (KPA), which manages Moon, said on the 21st that it had confirmed police identified the suspect, made an arrest and referred the case to prosecutors in a criminal complaint it filed against the author of malicious posts and comments aimed at the player.
KPA began gathering evidence based on fan tips and its own monitoring after malicious posts about Moon continued to spread on online communities and social media. It then filed a criminal complaint after a review with its legal counsel. Police who took up the case identified the author of the posts and arrested the suspect, and referred the case to prosecutors after finding the allegations substantiated.
Han Jung-moo, KPA's chief executive and lead attorney at the law office Beopjeong, said the case carries significant weight because the legal response to malicious online posts did not stop at a warning or a complaint but led to an actual arrest and referral — a substantive step toward punishment. "The cooperation of fans who sent decisive tips, along with their support for the player, was a great help," Han added.
KPA said it will carry out the remaining legal procedures in the case without delay, while continuing to monitor and take legal action against malicious posts and defamation targeting its players.
