The Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (Idra) has issued an urgent public warning regarding two fraudulent circulars being circulated across social media and various platforms using its name, logo, and identity.
In an official notice released recently, the regulatory body clarified that these circulars are completely baseless, false, and were not issued by Idra.
The insurance regulator issued the caution order following several fake notifications circulated online regarding paid-up capital, motor insurance, and marine insurance.
A senior Idra official said, several stock market investors group spread the fake circulars to manipulate the insurance stocks price.
The regulator urged members of the public, insurance policyholders, insurance institutions, media professionals, and all stakeholders to exercise maximum caution regarding such forged documents and misleading information. To verify the authenticity of any directive, circular, or public notice, Idra strongly advised everyone to rely solely on the authority's official, approved communication channels.
Journalists and media representatives have also been specifically requested to double-check and verify any Idra-related information or circulars with relevant officials before publication or broadcast.
Idra stated that an investigation into the forged documents is currently underway. Necessary legal action is actively being taken against the individuals or groups involved in fabricating and spreading the fake documents under applicable laws.
The regulatory body concluded its warning by urging everyone to refrain from spreading fake news and fraudulent documents, emphasising the importance of verifying information and acting responsibly.
