Left Party MP Mohamed Ali, who unexpectedly surged into parliament on a wave of personal preference votes, has rejected media reports claiming he repeatedly rescheduled a police interview regarding suspected election fraud in Borlänge.
"It is utterly mind-blowing that established media can publish unconfirmed or incorrect claims referencing 'sources'," Ali wrote on Facebook.
"I have neither postponed any police interview nor had any conversation with the police regarding the alleged election fraud," he added.
According to sources speaking to Aftonbladet, Ali had rescheduled a summoned police interview on more than one occasion.
Ali won a surprise seat in parliament through personal preference votes, and police are currently investigating suspected election fraud linked to his campaign. However, he has not personally been served with formal suspicion of a crime.
"The contacts I have had with the police so far have exclusively concerned the racist threats that have been directed at me," Ali wrote in his post.
The Left Party MP has not attended parliament since the election. He initially requested two weeks' leave and has subsequently signed off sick.
Deputy party leader Ida Gabrielsson stated on Tuesday that Ali is expected to return to parliament shortly, according to SVT.
"He will come as soon as possible and will then take part in parliamentary work," she said. "He will then become a substitute or regular member on a committee."
