NAFDAC said the operation uncovered counterfeit labels, corks, packs and outer packaging materials bearing the names of several brands, including Jameson, Glenfiddich, Four Cousins, Lord’s Dry Gin, Imperial Blue, Goya Oil, Chelsea, Squadron and Seaman’s Aromatic Schnapps.
According to the agency, the seized materials were estimated to be worth over N200 million.

It added that the owners of the five shops were absent during the raid, prompting the agency to place the premises on hold to prevent interference with the materials remaining inside.
NAFDAC said it had invited the market union chairman, who pledged to ensure the security of the sealed premises and assist the agency in identifying and presenting the shop owners.
The operation comes amid efforts by the agency to curb the circulation of counterfeit products and protect consumers from the potential dangers associated with fake and improperly packaged goods.
TVC News had earlier reported that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered a suspected counterfeit production facility at the BBA Trade Fair Complex in Lagos State, arresting two suspects during the operation.
The agency disclosed this in a terse post via its official X handle on Tuesday, October 13, saying the facility was located at Zamfara Plaza within the complex.
According to NAFDAC, the suspects were arrested while allegedly revalidating energy drinks as well as popular wine and whisky brands.
