Mehta has never forgotten Belgrade - a city he notes he “always returns to with joy” -maintaining a deep artistic bond with the orchestra that traces back to 1958.
Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra public relations officer Jelena Milasinovic said that audiences can expect an extraordinary reunion rooted in friendship, elite artistry, and deep mutual affection, describing the maestro as the orchestra’s absolute greatest friend.
She added that Mehta is a towering figure whose career and global footprint have left an indelible legacy for humanity.
“That is why his birthday is a milestone for the entire world, not just for the music community, but for the general public as well. We know how dedicated Maestro Mehta is to using music as a dialogue for important topics, bringing people together, and establishing bridges between cultures precisely where other tools fail,” Milasinovic emphasized.
The upcoming performance will mark the 19th time the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra has shared the stage with the legendary conductor, with a program featuring works by Wagner, Schubert, and Dvorak.
