For the first time since 1980, the World Series features two franchises that have never won a championship. Milwaukee enters the Fall Classic after a dominant regular season in which it won an MLB-best 103 games, followed by an impressive postseason run that included a four-game sweep of the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and NLCS MVP Jake Bauers have helped power the Brewers’ offense, while their pitching staff has been nearly untouchable throughout October.
Tampa Bay has been equally impressive, winning 98 regular-season games before sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALDS and defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games to capture the American League pennant. The Rays will send Nick Martinez to the mound against Milwaukee ace Jacob Misiorowski, who finished the regular season with a remarkable 1.80 ERA. With both clubs looking to capture their first championship, Game 1 sets the stage for a historic World Series.
