As part of its ongoing commitment to easing household financial pressures, the Government of Grenada, through the Ministry of Finance, confirms that Friday, 30 October and Saturday, 31 October 2026, will be designated as official VAT-Free Days across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
This marks the execution of the final 2 days of the government’s 6-day VAT-Free initiative under the broader Cost-of-Living Assistance Programme, which was introduced to help families manage rising household expenses while supporting economic activity throughout the tri-island state.
Under the programme, the government has increased and expanded the electricity subsidy to $50 for users of 200kWh or less, removed Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity bills for consumers and business operators and removed the Customs Service Charge on diesel used for electricity generation.
Following strong public participation during the first 4 VAT-Free Days, the Ministry of Finance expects consumers and businesses alike to benefit from increased purchasing activity during the October weekend.
“Along with the measures that reduce the rising cost of energy, plus the caps on fuel prices, these VAT-Free Days reflect the government’s continued commitment to delivering practical relief to citizens while supporting our local business community,” said Mike Sylvester, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. “With the standing orders expected to be published in this week’s gazette, we encourage households to begin preparing early so they can responsibly make the most of this opportunity.”
Details on qualifying items, eligible businesses, and applicable conditions are available through the Ministry of Finance’s website finance.gd and social media platforms. The ministry encourages consumers to plan purchases in advance, establish spending priorities, and consult official guidance before shopping.
The Government of Grenada remains committed to implementing targeted measures that provide meaningful support to households while fostering economic activity across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
