South Kordofan Governor Mohamed Abdel-Rahim Kafi has appointed four ministers to the state government, according to a gubernatorial decree announced on Wednesday. Kafi is aligned with the Sudanese government led by army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The appointments cover the finance and workforce, education, production and economic resources, and animal resources portfolios.
Al-Nour Abdel Rahman Adam Gharig was appointed state minister of finance and workforce, Mohamed Al-Amin Mohamed Nawai was named state minister of education, retired Major General Awad Al-Sadiq Salam was appointed state minister of production and economic resources, and Dr. Abdel Mahmoud Mohamed Al-Sayed Al-Sabih was named state minister of animal resources.
The gubernatorial decree directed the state government’s general secretariat, ministries, local administrative units and other relevant authorities to take the necessary steps to implement the appointments.
Appointments to the ministries of health and social development, and infrastructure and urban development, will be announced later, according to the announcement.
The appointments come as Sudan’s war between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, which erupted in April 2023, continues to affect security and territorial control across the Kordofan region.
