Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korea’s leader, has warned South Korea that border loudspeakers will be placed on standby within days.
Reuters reported early Thursday that Kim Yo Jong said North Korea would place loudspeakers used against South Korea on standby along the entire border in the coming days.
According to the report, she added that other unspecified countermeasures had also been put on standby.
On Wednesday evening, after visiting military fortifications with senior military officials, Kim said North Korea would activate anti-South Korean loudspeakers along the border by the end of October.
She said North Korean tactical units had been deployed to new positions and accused South Korean forces of broadcasting warning messages and firing warning shots at several locations near the border.
Historically, both North and South Korea have used loudspeakers to broadcast propaganda across the border
