Kaduna state Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has said the people of Northern Nigeria will repay President Bola Tinubu for his administration’s interventions in the region through their massive votes in the 2027 presidential election.
Sani spoke Saturday at the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally at Ranchers Stadium, Kaduna, where he cited infrastructure development, security, education and agriculture as areas in which the Tinubu administration had made significant interventions.
“At this juncture, I want to thank you, Mr President, and assure you that the people of Northern Nigeria will repay you with their votes,” the governor said, declaring his support for continuity under Tinubu’s leadership.
Recalling Tinubu’s visit to Birnin Gwari during the 2022 presidential campaign, Sani said the area was then an epicentre of insecurity in the North-West. He said the President had fulfilled his promises on road construction and security in the area.
“Mr President, today I can assure you that the two promises you made have been fulfilled. I am happy to say that you have fulfilled the promises,” Sani said.
He said N117 billions had been released for the reconstruction of the 123-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari Road, which he said had been abandoned for more than 40 years. He also praised the ongoing Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway reconstruction, saying about 95 per cent of the work had been completed.
“Today, I am happy to say, Mr President, that, looking at the people here, more than 90 per cent of Kaduna residents have come through the Abuja route, by road. Nobody has experienced a single problem of kidnapping. That is progress, Mr President,” he said.
On education, the governor thanked Tinubu for interventions supporting students in the North-West, describing the beneficiaries as children from poor and underserved backgrounds.
“You have given them a future. You have given them life, and we believe education is the greatest leveller you can give anyone to have a future, Mr President,” Sani said.
He also challenged those seeking votes on the basis of regional identity to present their records in office, arguing that voters should consider performance rather than where a candidate comes from.
“When someone came to us and said we should vote for him simply because he is a Northerner, we asked him, ‘Can you show us a track record?’ Until this moment, the so-called Northern candidate has not shown us his track record,” he said.
Sani further warned APC supporters that the opposition had changed its campaign tactics, moving beyond conventional social media platforms to artificial intelligence.
“The opposition have now upgraded their campaign from Facebook and Twitter to AI. So, I want to call the attention of our supporters to prepare, be watchful and be vigilant,” he said.
