MEXICO CITY – Octavio “N,” the man accused of attempting to murder a hotel receptionist in the Cuajimalpa borough, has been deported from San Diego, California, and handed over to the Mexico City General Prosecutor’s Office at the Tijuana border crossing. The suspect was apprehended on Friday, October 16, following a months-long binational manhunt.
Octavio “N” was held in the custody of U.S. immigration authorities when agents from the Mexico City Investigation Police (PDI) executed an arrest warrant against him for the crime of attempted femicide.
The assault occurred on June 29, 2026, at a hotel in the Santa Fe area of Cuajimalpa. Investigations conducted by the capital’s Prosecutor’s Office, released in August, established Octavio “N” as the primary suspect in the physical and verbal assault against the victim. Based on this evidence, a public prosecutor obtained an arrest warrant from a control judge.
The suspect was located in the United States after fleeing Mexico. He was detained by U.S. immigration in San Diego and subsequently deported to the Mexican authorities, who coordinated the handover at the border.
The Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that the successful apprehension was made possible by constant communication with U.S. authorities. The agency shared intelligence to contribute to the search and location of the suspect, which allowed for his identification and final delivery to the Mexico City prosecutor.
Following his detention in Tijuana, Baja California, Octavio “N” will be transferred to Mexico City. He will be held at the Oriente Male Prison and presented before the relevant judicial authority to continue his criminal proceedings.
The Prosecutor’s Office reiterated its commitment to combating violence against women and ensuring that these crimes do not go unpunished. The agency stated it is pushing for solid investigations to bring those responsible to justice and guarantee the rights of the victims.
In accordance with the National Code of Criminal Procedure and the principle of the presumption of innocence, Octavio “N” is considered innocent and will be treated as such in all stages of the proceedings until a final judgment is delivered by the competent jurisdiction.
The suspect has previously been linked to controversial allegations. In September 2024, hundreds of flyers were dropped from planes in Sinaloa, featuring the businessman under the alias “El Acapulco.” The flyers allegedly identified him as a real estate link to “Los Chapitos” and included a list of high-profile figures, including members of the Guzmán family and former government officials.
Octavio “N” was also identified as the legal representative and administrator of Grupo Universal Inmobiliario and Industrias, companies linked to major projects like Torre Triana and Coto Munich in Mazatlán. Investors have previously accused him in civil and criminal proceedings of failing to deliver pre-sold apartments. In 2025, he was also reported to have been arrested in Sacramento, California, for an alleged domestic violence case.
