Congress Protests, CEC Resignation Demand, BJP Hits Out at Rahul Gandhi
Congress and opposition parties have initiated widespread protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Ganesh Kumar, organising a mass mobilisation to march from Barakhamba Road to the Supreme Court. The Bharatiya Janata Party countered the agitation, asserting that the opposition questions EVMs, the Election Commission, and the judiciary whenever electoral outcomes do not favour them, alleging that Rahul Gandhi is attempting to politicise and intimidate constitutional institutions to prop up his political career. Congress workers and leaders assembled across venues, including Himachal Bhavan and Indira Bhavan, preparing to submit a memorandum regarding alleged malpractices in the Special Intensive Revision process. Although the Chief Justice of India declined to meet the leaders, opposition representatives confirmed they respect the decision while continuing their march.
BJP Protests In Bengaluru Over JNU Sacking Congress MP Amid Harassment Charges
The Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha held protests in Bengaluru against the Congress party, demanding the immediate arrest and parliamentary suspension of Congress Lok Sabha Member of Parliament Angomcha Bimol Akoijam. The protests erupted after Jawaharlal Nehru University terminated the services of the professor following an internal inquiry into sexual harassment complaints filed by students. Police detained several Mahila Morcha protesters who attempted to march towards the Karnataka Congress office, citing municipal restrictions permitting demonstrations only at Freedom Park. Protesters and BJP leaders accused the Congress leadership of maintaining silence on serious allegations concerning women's safety, while allegedly deflecting national attention towards sub judice issues surrounding the Election Commission of India. A First Information Report has been registered against the MP, with allegations citing sexual advances, offensive remarks, and inappropriate misconduct. The MP has denied the accusations, calling the charges baseless, politically motivated, and part of a targeted witch-hunt.

The visuals show detained demonstrators being provided snacks, tea, and water bottles at temporary detention facilities, addressing claims of ill-treatment stemming from previous agitations. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, however, disputed the official clips, calling them selective and edited. Dipke alleged that police denied him fundamental rights while in detention, including immediate access to legal counsel and phone communication, following his detention amid the party's planned protests.
Owaisi Slams Yogi & Akhilesh: 'Both Are Shadow Boxing, Diverting From Real Issues'
In an exclusive interview with India Today, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, stating both leaders are merely engaging in shadow boxing rather than addressing public issues. Owaisi questioned the lack of action over alleged multi-crore corruption in Sambhal and the withholding of the Special Investigation Team report. Challenging both leaders, Owaisi stated, "Yogi Adityanath contest from Sambhal, we will defeat him", and dared Akhilesh Yadav to contest from Gorakhpur. Further attacking the Samajwadi Party chief over his candidate selections and political alliances, Owaisi questioned the nomination of individuals closely associated with the ruling establishment. He also addressed discussions surrounding the INDIA alliance, stating his party talks about equality and self-respect rather than standing behind anyone without due consultation.
