Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will be the first guest on filmmaker Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan Season 9, which will be its final edition, the makers have announced.
Johar took to Instagram to share a promotional video confirming Khan’s appearance on the show, which will premiere on October 14 on JioHotstar.
In the promo, Khan can be heard saying, “Toh main aa raha hun karne Koffee with Karan”.
Sharing the video, Johar wrote, “One last time...a koffee with the one & only bhaii. Koffee with Karan Season 9, streaming 14th October onwards on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar.”
The upcoming season will mark the end of the celebrity chat show, which has been a prominent fixture of Bollywood's entertainment landscape for more than two decades.
Explaining his decision to end the show, Johar told Variety that he wanted to devote the next phase of his career to filmmaking. “Koffee With Karan has been such a large part of my identity in the entertainment industry... I still can’t believe it's been 22 years and now this will be my ninth season,” he said.
“I want to spend the next decade of my life directing more movies... telling many more stories... so with a heavy heart I am making this season my last,” he added.
Koffee With Karan began its journey on Star World in 2004, with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its first guests. The show ran for six seasons on Star World until 2019. By the sixth season, episodes were available for streaming on Hotstar.
Over the years, the programme has become known for its candid celebrity conversations, personal revelations and controversies.
