TAIZ – Fierce clashes erupted once again between Yemeni government forces and Houthi militias on multiple fronts in Taiz Governorate, amid reports of battlefield gains by government troops and intensified air and artillery strikes targeting Houthi positions.
Military sources said fighting renewed in the Al-Shaqab front, southeast of Taiz city, as Houthi forces launched heavy shelling on the villages of Al‑Shaqab, Kahlan, and Al‑Najadah, causing widespread concern among local residents.
According to field sources, Yemeni government forces made advances in Taiz and seized control of the strategic area of Sanamat, while Houthis simultaneously intensified ballistic attacks targeting neighboring Marib Governorate.
The escalation coincided with increased aerial and ground operations in the districts of Al‑Shamaytain and Al‑Masrakh, aimed at restricting Houthi military movements in southern Taiz.
Sources confirmed that several Houthi fighters were killed and wounded in an airstrike that targeted a gathering of militia members in the Al‑Zaazae area of Al‑Shamaytain District.
Elsewhere, warplanes reportedly struck Houthi positions in Al‑Waziyah District in western Taiz.
On the province’s western coast, local sources said airstrikes also targeted militia sites on Jabal Al‑Nar, east of the strategic port city of Mocha.
In the Dhubab and Bab al‑Mandab axis, west of Taiz, a field source reported that forces from the Giants Brigades and Homeland Shield Forces advanced and captured Al‑Ardhi Hill, as fierce fighting continued against Houthi militants in the area.
Meanwhile, intense battles were reported around the Shaab Al‑Jin military camp in the heart of Bab al‑Mandab, highlighting the growing military pressure on Houthi positions across key fronts in Taiz.
