Since she stepped onto a national stage at LSU, there haven't been many bigger stars in women's basketball than Angel Reese.
From Maryland and LSU in college to the Sky and Dream in the WNBA, Reese has remained a force everywhere she's gone. Now a three-time WNBA All-Star and a Defensive Player of the Year, she continues to ascend, helping lead Atlanta to the 2026 WNBA Finals.
Reese comes from a full-on basketball family — not only did both of her parents play, but her brother is carving out an NBA career.

Angel Reese brother: Julian Reese
Angel Reese's younger brother is Julian Reese, her only sibling who is one year younger than her. Julian has carved out a professional basketball career of his own; he and Angel both played their high school basketball at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, then both signed with Maryland to play college basketball.
Julian became a starter for Maryland in college, including being a member of the "Crab Five" as a senior during March Madness in 2025, with the Terrapins' starters becoming the highest-scoring in the country.
Coming out of high school, Julian Reese was a four-star recruit, becoming the highest-rated signee for the Terrapins in their 2021 class. Through two coaching changes, Reese then stayed at Maryland for his full college career, blossoming into a dominant rebounder — just like his sister. As a junior, Reese was third in the Big Ten in rebounds with 9.5 per game and an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten team, then as a senior, he averaged 13.1 points per game and again led the team in rebounds with 9.0 per game.
After college, Reese went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft, but found a role with the Raptors 905 in the G-League before proceeding to sign a two-way contract with the Wizards in February 2026. By just his third NBA game, he made some noise with an 18-point, 20-rebound game against the Jazz, the most rebounds by a Wizards rookie since 1993.

Reese made some noise with his double-double ability late in the Wizards' 2025-26 season, but the following offseason, he was traded to the Nuggets, who then waived him.
Prior to the 2026-27 season, Reese found a home with the Pelicans on a two-way contract.

Reese's mother played college basketball herself at UMBC, where she was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame and her No. 10 jersey was retired. Nowadays, her two children have also donned No. 10.
Angel Webb Reese and her husband, Michael, welcomed Angel in 2002 and Julian in 2003. According to People, Angel Webb Reese raised both of her children as a single mom, as the couple later separated.
Angel has previously credited her mother for helping her become confidence at a young age. In an April 2023 interview with ESPN, the WNBA star said her mother showed her how an independent a woman could be.
"Looking at her and seeing how she never backed down to anything. She always stood her ground for everything, she worked super hard for me and my brother to get in this position,” Reese said. “Being able to just look at her and say 'Mom, you showed me. You paved the way for me.' "
During a January 2025 episode of her YouTube show, "Unapologetically Angel," Reese also surprised her mom by paying off her mortgage.
"You said that if your mortgage was paid off you would retire. Your mortgage today has been paid," Angel said. "Happy birthday."
When Angel Reese won the 2025-26 Defensive Player of the Year award, her mother helped surprise her with the news.
Now, Angel Webb Reese has become her children's biggest supporters as they embark on their own basketball careers.
“I used to go to my mom’s games when I was younger. She used to play in a little league, and I used to always go watch her games on Sundays. That was something that was always inspiring to me,” Reese said of her mother to Just Women’s Sports in January 2023. “She’s always been independent and she molded that into me. I am who I am because of her.”
