DigitalX, the cryptocurrency exchange owned by Mirae Asset Group and formerly known as Korbit, will relocate its offices next month to the Center One building in Seoul's Jung-gu district, where Mirae Asset Securities is headquartered. The move follows a rebranding after the exchange joined Mirae Asset Group, as the company builds a foundation for expanding its digital asset business.
DigitalX is working to complete the relocation to the Mirae Asset Center One building in early November, according to financial industry sources on the 14th. A specific moving date has not been set.
Korbit, DigitalX's predecessor, launched in 2013 as South Korea's first cryptocurrency exchange. It became a Mirae Asset Group affiliate in July after Mirae Asset Consulting, a group unit, acquired the company. DigitalX changed its corporate name in August and completed its brand integration in September by revising its exchange service name, domain and mobile app icon.
Mirae Asset Group plans to develop DigitalX into a core platform linking traditional finance with digital assets. In a July letter to employees, Mirae Asset Group Chairman Park Hyeon-joo described DigitalX as a central pillar for realizing the group's "Mirae Asset 3.0" vision. The aim is to build a new investment ecosystem by combining traditional and digital assets, pairing Mirae Asset's financial expertise with Korbit's specialized knowledge.
