A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, struck out the eight-count criminal charge brought against the alleged fake Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, by the federal government.
Justice Mohammed Umar terminated the trial of Adeyemi before him following the request of the federal government to that effect and on the basis that the accused person would be moved to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory for fresh arraignment.
At Monday’s proceedings, Rotimi Oyedepo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria SAN and Director of the Public Prosecution of the Federation DPPF moved the application for the termination of the charges.
Oyedepo told the Judge that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice AGF carried out a review of the case file of Adeyemi and the charge filed by the Inspector General of Police and found some loopholes.
Among others, he said that the documents allegedly forged by Adeyemi during his operations of the fake agency are those that can be prosecuted by the High Court of the FCT and not the Federal High Court.
