Lisbon has once again been named Europe’s Best Cruise Destination at the World Cruise Awards, securing the prestigious title for the third time.
The Portuguese capital received the award at a ceremony held in Jamaica, adding to its previous victories in 2021 and 2024.
Lisbon beat several major European cruise destinations, including Barcelona, Athens, Dubrovnik, Monte Carlo, Nice, Rome, Oslo and Southampton, as well as fellow Portuguese destination Funchal, on the island of Madeira.
The Lisbon Port Authority (APL) welcomed the recognition, describing it as a reflection of the city’s growing reputation as a leading destination for international cruise tourism.
According to the authority, the award recognises the efforts of the professionals and organisations involved in the cruise sector, alongside the hospitality offered to visitors arriving in the Portuguese capital.
“This award is the result of the dedication and commitment of all those working within Lisbon’s cruise ecosystem, who strive every day to provide unique and memorable experiences for our visitors, as well as the hospitality of the people of Lisbon,” APL said in a statement.
The authority added that Lisbon was increasingly establishing itself as a competitive, innovative and sustainable cruise destination.
The latest recognition comes in a year when the Lisbon Cruise Terminal was also nominated for Europe’s Best Cruise Terminal for the sixth consecutive time.
Established in 2021, the World Cruise Awards recognise excellence and innovation across the international cruise industry.
Lisbon’s latest victory further strengthens the Portuguese capital’s international profile as a cruise destination and an important gateway for visitors exploring Portugal.
