KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the discovery of a baby girl's body, estimated to be about seven months old, at a waste disposal site in Bangsar today.
Brickfields police chief Hoo Chang Hook said they received a report about the discovery of the body in a rubbish bin at about 10.45am.
"The body was taken to the forensics unit of Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem, and an investigation is being conducted under Section 318 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement.
Section 318 deals with the concealment of a birth by the secret disposal of a body.
Separately, Gombak police said they are looking into the abandonment of a baby boy left in a box under the stairs of an apartment block in Kepong yesterday.
Gombak police chief Ibrahim Husin said police were alerted to the discovery at Aman Puri Village Apartment by a 35-year-old man.
"The baby was reported to be in good health and has been taken to the hospital for further monitoring," Kosmo quoted him as saying.
