Two supporters and informants of the Boko Haram terrorist group have been convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The two men, identified as Abba Mustapha and Bukar Ibrahim, both from Borno State, were sentenced after they were found guilty of providing support for the proscribed terrorist group.
The duo were arrested by the operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) after they were caught providing support to the group and concealing information on their activities.
Terrorism cases are currently ongoing in different court rooms following the Federal Government’s resolve to the trial of suspected terrorists.
The trial, which resumed on Thursday after judges’ vacation, is being handled by Justices Salim Ibrahim, James Omotosho, Binta Nyako, Emeka Nwite, Obiora Egwuatu, Hauwa Yilwa, Joyce Abdulmalik and Peter Lifu.
Checks by Daily Trust showed that at least 34 suspects were listed for proceedings before Justice Ibrahim, while 25 were listed before Justice Lifu.
When they appeared in court on Thursday alongside other suspects, the two men pleaded guilty to charges bordering on providing support to the terrorist group and concealing information on their activities.
Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Salim Ibrahim, sentenced both defendants to life imprisonment on the first count and 20 years’ imprisonment on the second count.
