LaMelo Ball got his first regular-season points as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The star point guard did it in style as well, as he pulled up from the Miami Heat logo during Wednesday night’s game against Giannis Antetokounmpo and company at Kaseya Center in Miami.
After the Heat scored the first four points of the contest, Ball took advantage of a double-screen from his teammates from way behind the arc and casually put up a long attempt that found the bottom of the net.

The 25-year-old Ball was traded by the Charlotte Hornets to the Timberwolves in the offseason, and was expected to shore up Minnesota’s backcourt. He made a great impression early on in the game with that shot, and it will be interesting to see how the rest of his Minnesota debut will go.
The Heat are also debuting a huge offseason acquisition in Antetokounmpo, adding excitement to this matchup in South Beach.
Before coming over to the Twin Cities, Ball spent his first six seasons in the NBA with the Hornets, who took him third overall in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft.
During his time with Charlotte, he averaged 20.8 points, 7.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds, while shooting a decent 36.5 percent from behind the arc. He doesn’t have to go all out with his outside shooting in Minnesota, but if he could consistently knock down those shots, he’ll be an even bigger asset alongside his new backcourt partner, Anthony Edwards.
