Anti-drug activist Parvinder Jhota was shot dead by a medical store owner in Punjab's Mansa on Monday morning, with the incident captured on camera. Jhota, who had been raising the issue of rampant drug sales in Punjab, had gone to the pharmacy and questioned its owner about a person who had allegedly purchased drugs earlier that morning.
An argument broke out between the two, following which the store owner opened fire on Jhota from close range, firing multiple shots that passed through his body. One of Jhota's companions was also seriously injured in the shooting.
After the firing, the medical store owner shut down the shop and fled the scene. Police reached the spot as news of the shooting spread, while Jhota's supporters gathered there.
