Viktor Orbán, the chairman of FIDESZ, was a guest in Lakitelek on Sunday at the first nationwide camp of the Digital Civic Circles (DPK), Világgazdaság reported.
The former prime minister took stock of the TISZA government’s first five months and also spoke about how the party is being reorganized, emphasizing that, at 63, he no longer wishes to reinvent himself and remains committed to the values he has long championed. “I have absolutely no desire to reinvent myself. I want to live out the rest of my life normally. I am a Christian Hungarian—what is there to renew about that? All three aspects are fine; I do not want to change anything about them,” said Viktor Orbán.
Another topic of discussion was the political leadership of FIDESZ, including the strong personalities from his former government. As he put it, many of their key figures had fought hard during the election campaign but had sustained serious wounds; he cited Péter Szijjártó as an example.
Szijjártó is a gold reserve; he is in good hands, and his value is steadily rising,”
he said of the former foreign minister, who holds a prominent position at BYD, the company building a plant in Szeged. According to Viktor Orbán, János Lázár is being targeted; although he is working, he is not on the front lines.

Orbán also addressed “Purgatory,” an initiative launched by the TISZA Party—a program announced on June 22, 2026, by Prime Minister Péter Magyar that aims to combat corruption and eliminate political and economic entanglements. “We must stand firm in this undignified, humiliating, and impossible situation,” he emphasized. Regarding the legal proceedings against Miklós Seszták, Balázs Hankó, and Veronika Varga-Bajusz, he said the cases had caused him three times the pain.
Lázár is also being hounded, but they are firing grenades at me,”
said the former prime minister, referring to his Minister of Construction and Transportation, who played a major role in the election campaign. In his view, the intention behind these events is to take him into custody as well, should anyone make an incriminating statement against him.
Viktor Orbán described FIDESZ as a major, historic governing party; in his view, however, the TISZA Party is “for now merely a temporary phenomenon.” The politician added that the TISZA Party, too, could become a major, historic governing party if it did what FIDESZ does: establish a new ideological foundation and, on that basis, achieve economic performance that sets a historic record. Although they have only been in government for five months, he noted that he currently sees not this, but destruction.
When the country needs us, it can always count on us,”
the FIDESZ chairman made clear. Viktor Orbán explained that he had originally envisioned a 20-year program, of which voters had granted him 16 years, so that “God still owes him four more.”

Acting Attorney General István Lajtár has suspended former chief prosecutor Pál Fürcht and initiated further disciplinary proceedings against him. Continue reading
