Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) has explained that the reduction in electricity supply hours across its network is due to a shortfall in power allocated to it from the national grid.
The company disclosed this in a public notice issued on Monday, October 19, 2026, signed by its management.
IKEDC said the quantity of electricity currently allocated to its network was insufficient to sustain the usual hours of supply to customers.
“We wish to inform customers across Ikeja Electric network that the reduced hours of electricity supply is due to a shortfall in the amount of power currently allocated to our network from the national grid,” the notice read.

The electricity distribution company acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the development and appealed to affected customers for patience and understanding.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” it stated.
IKEDC added that it was engaging relevant stakeholders to address the shortfall and improve the volume of electricity available to its network.
“Please be assured that we are actively engaging the relevant stakeholders to improve the available power supply and will continue to distribute the power received from the grid as efficiently and equitably as possible,” the notice added.
