Sports Illustrated writer Justin Melo released his ranking of the NFL's 2026 draft class, and he wasn't flattering to the Denver Broncos. Melo ranked the Broncos' draft class as the third-worst draft class from 2026, just ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams.
Melo wrote that his reasoning came from the fact that the Broncos didn't pick until the third round (66th pick) and that that same pick, Tyler Onyedim, has been a weekly inactive. On top of that, Jonah Coleman, who they drafted in the fourth round, has been on injured reserve. All in all, the Broncos grade out at a flat-out D.
"The Denver Broncos didn't make a pick until 66th overall and Tyler Onyedim has been a weekly inactive. Jonah Coleman is unfortunately on IR," Melo wrote. "The rookie running back looked impactful when healthy and could still capture a big role this season. Fifth-round TE Justin Joly was outright released. Grade: D."
Considering that the Broncos are still 4-2 is a reflection of head coach Sean Payton's coaching. With a deep roster, it was always going to take time for rookies to break into this squad. Perhaps the draft class will look better down the road.
