Xiaomi launches affordable 6kg washing machine with 19-minute quick wash

Xiaomi has launched the Mijia Washing Machine with Giant Washing Pulsator 6kg, a compact top-load washer that costs CNY 587 (about $88) in China. The model, numbered XQB60MJ101, is on pre-sale through Xiaomi Mall, where buyers pay a CNY 50 (about $8) deposit before settling the balance.

Xiaomi says the 6kg drum can wash up to 26 T-shirts in a single load. The cabinet measures 496 × 507 × 814 mm and occupies about 0.25 square meters of floor space. It comes in a plain white finish, and the control panel includes a child lock that stops settings from being changed while a cycle is running.

The washer offers 10 wash programs and 10 water levels. Its 19-minute quick wash is intended for small loads that need a fast turnaround. A delay timer lets users schedule a cycle between 2 and 24 hours in advance, which allows washing to be shifted to off-peak electricity hours or run while the household is out.

Xiaomi has fitted a double-layer mesh filter that traps lint during washing and reduces residue left on clothes. A drum self-clean mode flushes out built-up dirt with high-speed water flow, while a drum air-dry function dries the inner tub after use to limit the musty odors that develop in damp machines.

The machine runs on a 220V, 50Hz supply and carries an IPX4 rating for water resistance. It works with mains water pressure between 0.05 and 0.8 MPa. China's energy labeling scheme gives it a Level 1 rating, based on consumption of 0.065 kWh of electricity and 78 liters of water on a standard cycle, with a cleaning ratio of 0.90.

The 6kg model has no app connectivity, so every function is operated from the physical control panel. Its feature set closely follows an earlier 5.5kg Mijia pulsator model, which Xiaomi listed at a suggested ¥699 with the same 10 programs, 10 water levels, double-layer filter, and self-clean and air-dry modes, but a longer 22-minute quick wash.

Xiaomi has not announced plans to sell the Mijia 6kg washer outside China. The model is currently available only through the company's Chinese online store.

I’ve been obsessed with tech for as long as I can remember, so much so that I’ve become the unofficial "tech support" for my entire family. Whether it’s fixing gadgets, explaining specs, or recommending the best buys, I love breaking down tech for everyday people. That passion led me to writing about tech. When I’m not testing gadgets or writing reviews, you’ll probably find me hiking or doom-scrolling car listings (still hunting for my first ride, wish me luck, lol).
