Counsel to the panel of prosecutors Atty. Lorna Kapunan on Thursday apologized to lead defense counsel Atty. Sheila Sison for calling her a bully, clarifying that it is the Vice President who is the "real bully."
"Hindi naman siya ang bully. Ang talagang bully is the Vice President. She is the real bully," Kapunan said in an online interview.
Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday defended Sison after Kapunan called the latter a bully and accused her of disrespecting the prosecution and the senator-judges after the defense described the impeachment proceedings as “persecution.”
“Lorna Kapunan calling a defense counsel a bully is like calling David the aggressor against Goliath. It is a convenient way to vilify the person defending against an overwhelming display of political power," Duterte said.
But Kapunan said it is the Vice President who is the aggressor and bully.
"Nakita naman natin sa statement niya, tinitira niya lahat (We have seen her statement, she's criticizing everybody). She's bullying the senator-judges. Calling the impeachment trial as political theater. She's bullying the prosecutors. She's bullying the House," the defense lawyer stated.
Kapunan said Duterte "has disrespected all the institutions. So I want to correct my statement. It is not Attorney Sheila who is the bully. It is the Vice President herself."
"Apologies to Atty. Sheila. They're just doing their job as lawyers," she added. —AOL, GMA News
