Easterlies, or warm and humid winds from the Pacific, are expected to bring rains to Metro Manila and more than a dozen other areas across the country, posing risks of flooding and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday.
The weather system may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, and Quezon, PAGASA said in its 4:00 p.m. weather advisory.
It may also cause isolated rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon.
The rest of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon and CALABARZON may also experience similar weather conditions.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides in all areas that may be affected by the easterlies.
Meanwhile, the northeasterly windflow is expected to bring cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, while the rest of the country may experience localized thunderstorms.
A tropical depression remains within PAGASA’s monitoring domain and was last located 2,970 kilometers east of Central Luzon.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance is unlikely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and is not currently affecting the country. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
