Analysis
By bundling GrokBot with Cursor and X Premium into unified tiers reaching $200 per month, xAI finally prints the seat price the market has been tracking, while the usage base underneath it stays unpublished.
The Invoice for the Digital Coworker
When Forkast mapped four money models this month, GrokBot’s seat price was the one nobody had printed. It is now. xAI’s official pricing page sets out the X Subscription in three tiers. The page itself carries no publication date; the tiers below were read from it on October 15, 2026. For procurement teams weighing GrokBot, the shift is toward bundled utility: one recurring charge replaces a stack of separate tools, and the page’s own line is that the combined stack was “previously $90/month combined” (vendor-reported, as printed on the page).
The Pricing Map
The subscription is structured into three tiers, all vendor-reported and billed monthly in USD:
- Premium: $30 per seat.
- Super: $100 per seat.
- Ultra: $200 per seat.
GrokBot is included in all three tiers, the pricing page states (vendor-reported). The flat fee addresses the missing price tag noted in the four money models map, but what it does not settle is how much use sits underneath it.
Bundling as a Distribution Moat
The vendor-reported strategy centers on bundling Grok, GrokBot, Cursor, and X Premium into one package. By tethering development tools to the broader X ecosystem, the company forces a choice between fragmented point solutions and a consolidated stack. For teams, the cost of the digital coworker stops being a single tool’s line item and becomes a platform subscription.
The Usage Unit
A critical component of this model is the shared weekly AI usage pool. The pricing page measures that pool in multipliers: specifically 4x, 15x, and 50x by tier, against a base the page does not print (vendor-reported, as printed on the page). That structure introduces real variability in actual cost per interaction. The multipliers are public. The base is not. For procurement teams, the hidden pool is the primary source of cost volatility, because without the base number the multipliers cannot be converted into a per-action price.
Procurement Consequences
The move to bundle suggests a market focused on high-volume, platform-integrated workflows. For the people who manage these budgets, the discipline it demands is consumption tracking: the seat price is now public, the usage base stays unpublished, and the gap between them is where a bundled deal can quietly cost more than the parts. Teams should measure their own actual consumption against the printed multipliers rather than assume the bundle saves money. The invoice for the digital coworker has arrived. The part that tells you what it costs to run has not.
