The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says 512 civilians were killed and another 1,236 injured in incidents along the border between October 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026.
In a report released on Thursday, October 15, UNAMA said border-related incidents between July 1 and September 30 this year killed 13 civilians and injured another 20.
The mission also documented injuries to four civilians, including two children, caused by the explosion of a pressure-activated explosive device in Kunar province.
Border clashes and tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have repeatedly led to border crossing closures, the displacement of families and civilian casualties.
Residential areas and residents of border regions have also been affected by these incidents.
