The St. Louis Blues keep adding to their growing list of injured players and continue to purge the roster in Springfield to offset it.
Veteran forward Ross Johnston became the fifth Blue to be sidelined when he was placed on injured reserve with a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day. To offset the injury, the Blues have recalled forward Otto Stenberg from the Thunderbirds, a day after the team recalled 2022 third-round pick, Aleksanteri Kaskimaki.
The 32-year-old has played in six games for the Blues this season after signing a three-year, $6 million contract as a free agent after playing for the Anaheim Ducks.
Stenberg, 21, has appeared in six games for the Thunderbirds this season and has four points (one goal, three assists).
The first-round pick in the 2023 draft played in 32 regular-season games for the Blues last season and had 10 points (three goals, seven assists).
Johnston joins Tyler Tucker (knee), Logan Mailloux (hand), Alexey Toropchenko (upper body) and Dillon Dube (neck), all sidelined with longer-term injuries.
