SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Education Department is finalising an investigation regarding allegations of students from a school being involved in the serving of alcoholic beverages during a dinner event held by the school's alumni association on Sept 5.
In a statement today, the department said that school students should not be involved in activities involving the handling or serving of alcoholic beverages.
Based on initial information, the event was organised by the alumni association outside the school premises, while the school and the association denied allegations of student involvement in the serving of alcoholic beverages, it said.
The department said that the investigation into complaints received through the Public Complaint Management System (SISPAA) also includes an examination of the school's compliance with procedures.
"If there are any violations of regulations or negligence in the performance of duties, appropriate action will be taken based on the applicable regulations," read the statement.
The department emphasised that the welfare, safety, and dignity of students are always a priority and that it (the department) will ensure that the investigation results are thoroughly reviewed before any follow-up actions are taken.
