PETALING JAYA: Sarawak premier Abang Johari Openg has accused certain minority parties of using social media to paint the state in a negative light.
Abang Johari said the state government will not allow such attempts to derail Sarawak's progress.
He said the spread of misleading information and falsehoods would undermine the momentum Sarawak had worked hard to build.
"Whether driven by jealousy, an attempt to divert attention, or other motives, these actions undermine our collective efforts, and disrupt the momentum we have worked hard to build," he said when tabling the Supply Bill (2027) at the state legislative assembly today, Dayak Daily reported.
"Ultimately, we will not allow negativity to distract us from our mission, or derail Sarawak's progress."
A total of RM14.845 billion has been allocated under the 2027 state budget, placing strong emphasis on state development, particularly in the rural areas, to safeguard the prosperity and wellbeing of the people.
It comprises RM5.747 billion for operating expenditure and RM9.098 billion appropriated to the Development Fund Account.
Abang Johari said Sarawak would remain focussed on delivering development, creating opportunities and improving the lives of Sarawakians.
"Let the people and society judge us by our policies, our actions and, above all, the results we deliver. I am confident they will stand with our noble mission," he said.
He urged Sarawakians to move forward with confidence, courage and unity.
"Let us make these final years towards 2030, years of extraordinary delivery and transformation.
"Together, let us build a Sarawak that is prosperous and inclusive, sustainable and competitive, confident in its identity, secure in its future, and increasingly respected for its place in Malaysia, Asean and the world," he said.
