Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade underwent surgery in France on Friday after suffering an injury on international duty.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward was hurt in Nigeria’s 5-0 win over Comoros in the second leg of their 2028 Olympic qualifying tie at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State, on Tuesday.
The injury came in the 23rd minute following a collision with a Comoros player. She received treatment on the pitch before being stretchered off and replaced by Folashade Ijamilusi.
The 26-year-old was said to have suffered a fibula fracture.
In a medical update ahead of their game against OL Lyonnes, PSG said the operation would be carried out by one of the club’s specialist surgeons, after which she would begin rehabilitation with the medical team.
Reports in France suggested the injury could keep her out for the rest of 2026, but PSG have not given a timeline for her return, which depends on her recovery.
The injury ends a bright spell for Ajibade, who had scored in the UEFA Champions League and in PSG’s 3-1 win over Fleury in the Arkema Première Ligue. She has four goals in all competitions and has scored in two consecutive club appearances.
