Lotte Global Logistics will work with South Korea's Army Headquarters on transporting military supplies in wartime and on defense industry logistics.
The company said on the 21st that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Army Headquarters on building a wartime mobilization system and cooperating in defense logistics. The signing took place at Lotte Global Logistics headquarters in Seoul's Jung-gu district. Kang Byung-koo, chief executive of Lotte Global Logistics, and Maj. Gen. Ha Heon-chul, head of the logistics staff department at Army Headquarters, attended the ceremony along with other officials.
The agreement aims to put a system in place through civilian-military cooperation so that military supplies and equipment can be moved quickly and safely in the event of war. If a mobilization order is issued during a war or a national emergency, Lotte Global Logistics will help move Army supplies, emergency relief goods and daily necessities both within the country and overseas.
In peacetime, the two sides will also exchange smart logistics technology and work together on creating social value. They plan to develop a civilian-military cooperation model to make defense industry logistics more efficient and to pursue pilot projects that use private logistics infrastructure.
Lotte Global Logistics said it will use its global logistics network and advanced technology to improve the efficiency of military logistics in peacetime and to help build a logistics security network during national emergencies. A company official said it will create an exemplary civilian-military cooperation model that leads innovation in defense and defense industry logistics, drawing on the company's advanced logistics infrastructure and smart technology.
