Established in 1968 by Sweden's central bank, the Prize in economic sciences is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The 2026 prize was jointly awarded to Robert E. Hall and Michael Woodford for their work on the "microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilisation", showing how household and business decision-making can improve economic models and stabilisation policies.
