Kathmandu, October 16
The first edition of the Nepal Football League (NFL) will begin on February 13, organisers announced at a press conference on Friday.
NFL head Kalyan Gurung said the league aims to open a new chapter in Nepali football. He believes it will help keep domestic football active while Nepal remains suspended by FIFA.
Seven teams are confirmed: Lalitpur City FC, Kathmandu Rayzrs, FC Chitwan, Pokhara Thunders, Butwal Lumbini, Dhangadhi FC and Jhapa FC. Organisers plan to add more teams.
The league will follow a home-and-away format and run for about four months.
