Former Las Vegas Raiders star Richie Incognito raised a caution flag after the team’s 45-17 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.
It was a poor showing from the Raiders after their impressive 3-1 start, which led to many analysts commending their coaching staff. However, after two consecutive losses, the cracks have started to appear, which the team will need to fix before they drop more games.
Kirk Cousins, who has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league, was not able to make much of an impact against the strong Patriots defence. He had only one touchdown pass and was also sacked thrice during the game, which indicated how tough the night was for him.
Incognito, who has a podcast called ‘Initial Contact,’ had spoken about how the Raiders could use this game as motivation to beat their former head coach, Josh McDaniels. While that failed to happen, he wrote about some of the concerning things he saw during the matchup.
Richie Incognito thinks the Las Vegas Raiders struggled on offence and defence
The Raiders’ defence gave up 536 total yards, which showed poor resistance to the Patriots’ offence. Drake Maye had his best game of the season, as he threw for 374 yards and had 4 touchdowns in the game.
The offence did not play as well as they have done in previous games this season, rushing for only 38 yards, which is disappointing for a team that has a player like Ashton Jeanty as the running back.
“Got our a** kicked in the trenches. No run game. Couldn’t protect Cousins or get to Maye. Too many penalties, missed tackles and blown coverages. Stevenson’s fumble was our chance to flip the game and we went backwards. Have to be better. Lots to clean up,” Incognito wrote on X.
The Raiders will have to be better because waiting for them in the next two weeks are the Buffalo Bills and the LA Rams. Both of these teams are juggernauts on the offensive end, which is why the Raiders will have to focus on bringing their best on the defensive end, while also helping Cousins out on offence.
