The Toronto Blue Jays face a long offseason after missing the playoffs, leaving fans to wonder how the franchise will respond after a disappointing end to its 2026 campaign. With roster questions and free-agent decisions ahead, the wait for meaningful baseball news could feel especially long for supporters hoping to see the team return to contention next season.
“This time last year, the Blue Jays were having a little more fun. You probably were, too,” Keegan Matheson wrote to fans for MLB.com. “The 2026 postseason has already brought us some great moments, but for the teams that just missed out, it can drag on, delaying the offseason moves fans are already anxious for.”
But even as fans anticipate the kinds of offseason changes that can help the team improve, Toronto announced a different kind of baseball attraction that could give them something to look forward to during next season.

Toronto Blue Jays Announce First-Ever Savannah Bananas Event
Last week, the team announced a first-ever visit to their home stadium by a baseball sensation.
“The Savannah Bananas are coming to Rogers Centre,” the Blue Jays’ official account posted on social media. “This is an experience you don’t want to miss.”
The Savannah Bananas are known for turning baseball into a fast-paced spectacle, with choreographed dances, unusual rules and constant interaction with fans. Their version of the game, known as Banana Ball, is a Harlem Globetrotters like version of the traditional sport and the league has quickly grown in popularity in the U.S.
The visit to the Blue Jays’ home stadium will represent some historic expansion for their performances.
“The Savannah Bananas are going to need passports with Banana Ball going international for the first time in 2027,” Charles Odum reported for the Associated Press. “The Savannah Bananas and five other teams in their barnstorming style of rollicking baseball entertainment have scheduled stops in Canada and Mexico next year.”
Rogers Centre will host the Savannah Bananas on August 14 and 15, 2027.

What Savannah Bananas’ Update Means For Toronto Blue Jays
The announcement gives Blue Jays supporters something to look forward to during a winter that will otherwise be shaped by the club’s offseason decisions. Toronto must address its roster and determine how best to build a team capable of returning to the postseason.
The Bananas’ visit will not answer those baseball questions, but it could offer a welcome change of pace for fans eager to return to Rogers Centre. Their performances are built around crowd participation and unconventional on-field entertainment, making the event different from a typical Blue Jays game.
For Toronto, the August dates also bring an international first for Banana Ball to one of baseball’s best-known venues. While fans wait to learn what the Blue Jays’ next season will look like, they now have another reason to anticipate summer at Rogers Centre.
