Hollywood star Tom Cruise will receive a lifetime achievement award from the American Film Institute (AFI). The award will be presented to him in Hollywood in April next year, organisers announced recently.
AFI, a non-profit organisation working to preserve and promote film, has been giving out lifetime achievement awards every year since 1973.
Previously, stars like Elizabeth Taylor and Tom Hanks were honoured with the award. Tom Cruise joins the list. He has been nominated for an Oscar three times for his acting.
He was awarded an honorary Oscar last year in recognition of his contribution to cinema. His latest film ‘Digger’ did not meet the expectations at the box office.
