WASHINGTON — Mysterious black triangle objects speeding up to 1,800 miles per hour without vapor trails were spotted over secret US military bases on at least three separate occasions over the past year, a newly declassified tranche of government files on UFOs revealed Friday.
The sightings sparked national security concerns and it remains unclear if the objects were from other nations, according to redacted files on unidentified anomalous phenomena released Friday by the Trump Administration.
The triangle sightings raised concerns both for the advanced technology they appeared to use and for the location — over top secret sites where the US government tests new technology. The exact location and dates of the sightings were redacted for security reasons.
Sketches released by the government show the black, triangle-shaped object over a mountainous area. No photos were provided.
The objects were observed moving at a rate of 1.5 miles in three seconds, which would be 1,800 mph, observers noted in an FBI report on the matter.
The mysterious triangles made no sounds, showed no exhaust gases and, when scanned with a thermal device, gave off a consistent heat signal — unlike an airplane or drone, which would register at a higher signal around certain spots, like its engine.
It moved “with speed the observers described to be as fast as a fighter jet,” according to the files, which were released under the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters initiative.
“The exterior presented as a continuous (seamless), featureless surface lacking any discernible structural discontinuities, propulsive apertures, intake structures, aerodynamic control effectors, or cockpit features,” a Department of War memo said of another triangle sighting.
The two primary witnesses reported no physiological effects, the memo notes, saying there were no reports to symptoms like disorientation, nausea, headaches, memory gap,or other anomalous sensory phenomena.
Government officials ruled out the possibility the objects were American technology and there is skepticism about whether they are a foreign asset given that there are no known countries with those advanced technical capabilities.
Friday’s release marked the seventh tranche of files made available to the public, with more to come, government officials told a small group of reporters they briefed on Thursday.
The files are being released as part of President Trump’s pledge to have a more transparent government, Previous releases have revealed other reported sightings of unidentified flying objects but none of the files — as of yet — have offered definitive proof of alien life.
Friday’s release contains documents on a variety of topics, including about the popular History Channel reality show, Skinwalker Ranch.
The 512-acre ranch is located in Utah and is famously said to be a hotspot for UFO sightings, animal mutilations, and unexplained paranormal phenomena.
The files revealed the government had collected hair samples from the ranch in 2010, when a rancher said a skinwalker was spotted on the property and his dogs chased it through a barbed-wire fence. The hair was collected from the wire and underwent DNA analysis.
People on the property described seeing a “black shadowy figure.” Other sightings were of “dog-like creatures running on two legs, unnatural animalistic howling/screaming, little people, prehistoric birds and a maggot which measured about 8-feet long.”
A skinwalker is a harmful, malevolent witch in Navajo culture that can disguise itself as an animal.
As of May, 2010, officials had interviewed at least 25 people, including a Native Americans in the region, local police, ranchers, members of the Mormon church, and the director of the local Fish and Wildlife service. All of them described first-hand encounters with a skinwalker.
The files also examine unidentified sightings around California’s Catalina Island and reveal a NASA document from the 1960s offering guidance on what to do if you come in contact with space fragments.
