A total of 24 Nigerian artists have now crossed the one billion stream mark on Spotify across all credits, with Grammy-winning icon Wizkid leading the pack at 11.91 billion streams, a fresh testament to Afrobeats’ worldwide dominance.
Wizkid, who performed in Lilongwe, Malawi, last year at the Echoes of Greatness event spearheaded by Tay Grin, continues to extend his global reach.
Burna Boy trails just behind at 11.19 billion streams, with Rema (6.8 billion) and Tems (6.38 billion) occupying the third and fourth positions. Asake (4.5 billion), Ayra Starr (4.36 billion), and Davido (4.22 billion) complete the top seven.
Adekunle Gold is the latest artist to join the prestigious billion-stream club, hitting exactly 1.00 billion streams in a clear sign of his catalogue’s steady global rise.
