Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay unveil CapitaLand India Trust’s first data centre development in the state
CapitaLand Investment Limited (CLI) has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Tamil Nadu, unveiling CapitaLand Data Centre Chennai 01, the first data centre development in the state by its listed fund platform, CapitaLand India Trust (CLINT).
Jointly held by CLINT and CapitaLand India Data Centre Fund, the facility is located in Ambattur, Chennai, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. It will deliver 53 MW of gross power capacity, including 34 MW of IT power capacity across 13 data halls, supported by a dedicated 110 kV substation.
The facility was unveiled by Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, underscoring growing economic collaboration between Singapore and Tamil Nadu.
With a planned investment of approximately INR 1,940 crore, the development marks another milestone in CLINT’s expansion into digital infrastructure. It follows the completion of its 108 MW data centre in Navi Mumbai in 2025, which is fully leased to a leading global hyperscaler.
CLI has maintained a presence in Tamil Nadu for 22 years, investing more than INR 6,000 crore across seven operational assets. Its portfolio spans business parks, industrial and logistics facilities, lodging and digital infrastructure, supporting the state’s technology and manufacturing ecosystem.
Quaiser Parvez, CEO, India, CLI, said: “Tamil Nadu has been integral to our journey. By combining our local investment, development and operational expertise with our listed and private fund platforms, we are well-positioned to support the state’s growth as a technology, manufacturing and digital economy hub.”
Gauri Shankar Nagabhushanam, CEO, CLINT, said: “This development reflects our confidence in India’s long-term data centre growth and our commitment to building high-quality, future-ready digital infrastructure. We remain focused on diversifying our portfolio and delivering sustainable long-term value for our Unitholders.”
Advancing Chennai’s digital infrastructure
Designed to support high-density computing, liquid-cooled deployments and carrier-neutral connectivity, CapitaLand Data Centre Chennai 01 will cater to the evolving needs of hyperscale and enterprise customers.
Targeting LEED Gold certification, the facility will incorporate high-efficiency chillers, water economisation, intelligent energy and infrastructure management systems, and solar panels to support resource efficiency and sustainability.
CLI’s wider Tamil Nadu portfolio includes International Tech Park Chennai, Taramani; three industrial facilities at Mahindra World City; logistics facilities at Oragadam and Periyapalam; and the Citadines OMR Chennai and Somerset Greenways Chennai lodging properties.
