Gedion Rotich, a Kenyan man originally from Litein in Kericho County, was found unresponsive at his home in Houston, Texas. Emergency paramedics responded to the scene but were unable to save him.
What makes his passing even more heartbreaking is the silence that surrounds it. Gedion had no immediate family members living in the United States.
When he took his last breath, there was no relative close enough to rush to his side.

Back in Kenya, his family is now grappling not only with grief but also with the daunting challenge of bringing him home. Repatriating a body from the United States to Kenya is a costly and logistically complex process, one that a grieving family without connections or resources in America can rarely navigate alone.
Gedion Rotich's family appeals for help
Gedion was the firstborn among six siblings. He is survived by a 10-year-old son, both parents, his brothers and sisters, and a wider circle of relatives who had watched him leave Kenya in search of a better life.
His sister, Lydia Chebet Sang, who lives in Kenya, has reached out to the Kenyan diaspora, appealing to fellow Kenyans in Houston and across America to step in and help.
She is asking for assistance with repatriation arrangements and the financial costs involved in transporting Gedion's remains back to Kenyan soil for a dignified burial.
The family is asking that anyone with the means or the connections to assist should get in touch. Lydia Chebet Sang can be reached via WhatsApp, with her contact details available through the family.
Even those unable to contribute financially are being urged to share the appeal widely.
In many past cases involving Kenyans who have passed away abroad, a single shared post has been enough to connect grieving families with a church group, a community organisation, or a kind stranger who made all the difference.
Gedion Rotich went to America carrying the hopes of his family. His community is now being called upon to ensure his final journey brings him home.
Nakuru man found unresponsive in his UK home
In other news, TUKO.co.ke also highlighted facts about James Mwangi, a Kenyan man from Nakuru who was found unresponsive in his Derby room and later pronounced dead.
His death is under investigation, and no cause has been established.
His family is asking Kenyans at home and abroad to keep his wife, Susan, and their loved ones in their thoughts and offer support.
